The Logical and Necessary Starting Point for Global Recovery

Most people are alarmed and eager to help resolve the chaos and life-threatening difficulties the world is experiencing; but feel overwhelmed by the magnitude and complexity of the crises, wondering where to begin.

This book, Creativity: Revealing the Truth about Human Nature, uncovers the logical and necessary starting point for planetary recovery and regeneration: A shift in the way we define ourselves and the purpose of our life.

Conventional wisdom views our present difficulties separately as economic crisis, social crisis, political crisis, environmental crises, and so on. Based on that view, various sectoral policies and programs have been proposed and tried. Still, the crises persist and deepen; and the planetary condition continues to deteriorate.

There are fears that Planet Earth is heading for catastrophic demise — for mass extinction! Even more frightening, the signs are that the impending tragedy is accelerating.

The questions arise:

  1. Are the modern crises unsolved because they are too difficult to solve?

  2. Or, might it be that we have been solving the wrong problems?

  3. Stated differently: Might it be that we have been tackling the symptoms, inadvertently overlooking the root cause of our predicament — inadequate sense of who we really are and why we live?

A rare collection of sobering and revealing insights into the nature of human nature sheds valuable new light on the modern crises, and points the way out of our predicament. The collection is presented in
Creativity: Revealing the Truth about Human Nature.

Analysis and synthesis of the insights suggest that the dreadful "change-our-ways-or-perish" situation the world is facing is the result of attempting to build human civilization on a view of human nature which is seriously mistaken or, at best, inadequate.

Easy to read and universally accessible, Creativity: Revealing the Truth about Human Nature powerfully and persuasively demonstrates that:

  1. Humans are quintessentially creative beings — Homo Creativus — driven naturally and primarily to develop and to engage one’s natural abilities in meaningful and worthwhile functions — with economic consumption and material well-being as the means to that end.

  2. The modern crises and the global predicament are not economic, social, political, or ecological crises, per se. They are not separate crises, either. And they are not due to assumed human depravity, or to "human propensity to evil."

  3. The modern crises and the global predicament are, fundamentally, the widely accepted, but seriously flawed, economic conception of human nature; the ways of life that we have built on that misconception; and, resultantly, their tragic consequences.

  4. The prevailing, widely accepted economic-social-political-ecological understanding of the modern crises is both inaccurate and misleading. That inaccuracy accounts for why we are finding it difficult to resolve the dreadful situation the world is facing.

  5. As long as we continue to tackle “economic,” “social,” “political,” and “environmental” crises — perhaps, inadvertently overlooking the fundamental misconception of human nature that gives rise to those crises — the planetary condition is likely to continue to deteriorate; resulting, plausibly, in the dreaded catastrophic demise.

To the extent that the foregoing conclusions are valid, if we are to successfully resolve the chaos and life-threatening difficulties the world is facing, save our species from extinction, and leave a viable Planet for future generations, the logical and necessary starting point is to reform the increasingly dysfunctional notion of human nature that underlies present-day economic, social, and political activities.

Time to Rethink Human Nature

A shift in the way define ourselves and the purpose of our life, Creativity: Revealing the Truth about Human Nature provides the logical and necessary starting point for planetary recovery and regeneration:

  • necessary for economic development, universal prosperity, and world order;

  • necessary for inclusive and participatory politics, economy, and governance;

  • necessary for releasing new streams of creativity to solve the chaos and life-threatening difficulties the world is facing; and

  • necessary for building  viable, ecologically-regenerative, humanly-fulfilling global civilization and planetary future.

Considering the seriousness of our present difficulties and their ominous implications for our planetary future, setting right the way we define ourselves would seem to be the central project modern society and, indeed, the "historical mission" of our generation.
